All about Kamppi Chapel of Silence

The form of Kamppi Chapel of Silence looks very unique. It is actually the small sacral building with the shape of curved wood façade. This chapel can be approached from any directions depending on your coming. From the direction of the Simonkatu, one arrives at a small square opening up towards the Narinkka square.

“Based on archdaily.com, the Kamppi Chapel of Silence is located on the south side of the busy Narinkka square in central Helsinki. It offers a place to quiet down and compose oneself in one of Finland’s most lively urban spaces. With its curved wood facade, the small sacral building flows into the city scape. Simultaneously, the chapel’s gently shaped interior space embraces visitors and shields them from the bustling city life outside.
The chapel can be approached from all directions. From the direction of the Simonkatu, one arrives at a small square opening up towards the Narinkka square. From there, a flight of stairs leads down to the entrance level. Entrances are located in two glass facades facing the Narinkka square and the Lasipalatsi building.

Kamppi Chapel of Silence – a small sacral building

Kamppi Chapel of Silence has very simple shape. For the actual chapel space, it is located in the wooden volume. Its secondary spaces are located in a space opening up towards the square. This building belongs to a very calm space since the feeling of warm materials defines the space. Inside, its wall is made of thick oiled alder planks. For its furniture, it is also made of unyielding wood. So far, the façade of this Kamppi Chapel of Silence is very beautiful.
