A glance review of Hua-Hin Hut

“Based on archdaily.com, for us, this renovation project was not just to make the building looks better but to find a possibility of enhancing the relationship between existing spaces, in and out. The change of use has a big impact on all elements that define spaces. Hua Hin Hut is a conversion of a small warehouse in Hua Hin, Thailand to be a house. The idea is to setting up the dwelling unit on the site where the dweller can live, work, and growing food in order to reduce a traveling distance in everyday life.
We started the project by looking at the opportunity to open up this enclosed building. In a tropical country, the air played an important role to connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. The comfort of an indoor space depends on the location and the type of its opening. There are two issues to be considered here, the flow of the air and a mosquito. In this project, we designed a house, which have a seamless in&out door space so the air and people lived in are free to flow. By putting a mosquito net over the house, it makes the patio useable and free from any insect during the night. All windows and doors can also keep open for the whole night. It is a choice of the dweller to sleep under the roof on the rainy day or just sleep on the patio and watching a clear night sky without worrying about a mosquito. In the end the building has been transformed from an object which contain an isolate space to be an element that defines a multi-function and seamless space connect to the whole site.
