A glance review of EG House

“Reviewed from archdaily.com, Situated on a steep slope in the outskirts of Belo Horizonte, this house was especially designed for a young family. We sought to create a building that related to the natural topography of the terrain by trying to ease the access and circulation or by proposing a better use of the external areas. To achieve this goal, the house was designed so that the terrain and surroundings can be accessed from each and every one of its floors.
The bedrooms are placed on the lower floor of the house, so that the concretes lab of this wing was turned into a grass lawn adjacent to the social area, which is located on the intermediate floor. The garage is located on the same level as the bedrooms, optimizing the residents’ daily access to the house and thus avoiding the excessive use of stairways.
The top floor is where the view from the house can be enjoyed to its fullest. Thus, the home office, as well as the TV room and terrace are located on this floor.
The geometry of the design and its construction were made to highlight the topography and natural beauty of its environs – the cerrado (tropical savannah) of Minas Gerais. This unique landscape in turn emphasizes the house’s volume, uniting internal and external spaces.
